ThriveVA Counseling Group provides mental health skill-building services to individuals who are 18 and older who have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness that either currently or in the past required any of the following
1.
Psychiatric hospitalization
2.
Either residential or nonresidential crisis stabilization
3.
Intensive community treatment (ICT) or program of assertive community treatment (PACT) services;
4.
Placement in a psychiatric residential treatment facility (RTC-Level C) as a result of decompensation related to the individual’s serious mental illness;
5.
A temporary detention order (TDO) evaluation, pursuant to § 37.2-809 B of the Code of Virginia. Typically, clients will receive 1-3 hours of services per day. Treatment is specifically goal oriented, solution-focused and utilizes best practice modalities. Each client will receive an initial screening and assessment.

These services generally include:
● Individualized and customized treatment plans
● Practical skills training
● Safety plan development and implementation
● Monitoring of mental and physical health
● Teaching independent living skills to include: medication management, personal
hygiene, nutrition, food preparation, financial planning, employment skills, and coping
skills.

Family Support Group
Parents of children with mental or developmental difficulties This group parents, grandparents, older siblings, and anyone who is affected by the routine care of children with mental or developmental difficulties are encouraged to attend. The group aids parents of children on the autism spectrum, ADHD, depression, seizure disorders and more. The goal of these groups is to promote self-care, support, and connection to resources. Please call our office to inquire about the next open session.
Co-Parenting Group
This group addresses skills that are positively correlated with active parental roles, which might be under current distress due to conflict, separation, or divorce. The goal is to create a viable plan that allows both parents to play an active role in the lives of their children. Please contact as about availability.
